“There was something incredible about being in a room with only other adoptees.”
INSIDE THE ADOPTEE LOUNGE
A room full of people who get it.
The Adoptee Lounge is a virtual space for youth, young adult, and adult adoptees — where you don’t have to explain yourself, justify your feelings, or start from the beginning.
WHAT IT IS
Small groups. Real conversations. No explanation required.
The Adoptee Lounge brings together small groups of up to five adoptees in a virtual space facilitated by a trained adoptee mentor. Sessions are structured enough to hold the conversation — and open enough to go where it needs to go.
The questions that don’t have easy answers. This is a place to bring all of it, with people who are living it too.
Every Lounge is built around where you are right now.
WHO IT’S FOR
Youth Lounge
A space designed specifically for teenage adoptees — to ask questions, hear from peers, and feel a little less alone in the experience.
Young Adult Lounge
For adoptees in the middle of it — navigating identity, relationships, and what adoption means as you move into adulthood.
Adult Adoptee Lounge
Drop in, reconnect, go deeper. A recurring space for adult adoptees who want community.
Drop in. No long-term commitment required.
HOW IT WORKS
Pick your group
Choose the Lounge that matches your age group and find a session time that works.
Show up virtually
Sessions run 60–90 minutes over video. No prep needed. Just come as you are.
Come back
The Lounge is built for return visits. The more you come, the more the community builds around you.
WHO FACILITATES
Every session is led by an adoptee who’s been trained to hold this space.
Adoptee Lounge sessions are facilitated by AMS mentors — adoptees themselves, trained through our Mentor Skills Lab, supervised, and compensated for their work. They’re not moderators. They’re guides who know the terrain because they’ve walked it.
Your child’s Lounge session is their space — and that’s by design.
We ask that youth attend their sessions without a parent present. This isn’t about excluding you — it’s about giving your child a rare and genuinely judgment-free space to speak openly with peers who share their experience.
Supporting your adoptee means trusting them with this.
We’ve created resources specifically for adoptive parents — including a dedicated FAQ and a recorded info session — so you can feel informed and confident about what this space offers your child.
FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS
Supporting your adoptee means trusting them with this.
A private, peer-only space — held by a trained adoptee facilitator.
We’ve built in every possible path to get here.
Lounge sessions are priced to stay accessible — and free access is available for many adoptees in Washington, Oregon and California.
