AMS Fireside Chats provide an opportunity to listen to guest speakers engage in a moderated conversation on an adoption-related topic. Attendees are invited to engage in the conversation by sharing or asking questions.
About this Fireside Chat
Teenage adoptees may encounter various comments at school that relate to their adoption, and these comments can range from curious inquiries to potentially insensitive remarks. Some common comments may revolve around questions about their biological family, the circumstances of their adoption, or stereotypes associated with adoption.
In this Fireside Chat, our guests will share their personal experiences as teens navigating these conversations. We'll explore strategies for responding to such comments and discuss ways to support adoptees in these situations.
Fireside Chats are a gift from the adoptee community. If you’re an adoptive parent or ally, we encourage you to donate $10 or more to acknowledge the important work that our speakers are doing to educate others. Your donation helps us pay our speakers, grow our mentorship programs, and contributes to building a community where adoptees are valued.
